Molecule Software, Inc. (“Molecule,” “we,” “us”) recognizes and respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how we collect, use, and disclose your personally identifying information (“Personal Information”).
This Privacy Policy applies to information that we collect about you when you use our websites and/or our applications, products, and services, participate in or attend our events, or otherwise interact with us.
This Privacy Policy also applies to information we collect when you apply for a job at Molecule.
Throughout this Privacy Policy we refer collectively to our websites, applications, products, and services as the “Services.” Use of the Services is subject to our Terms of Use. Capitalized terms used but not defined in this Privacy Policy have their meaning set forth in the Terms of Use.
We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time without notice to you. You should check here periodically to review the current Privacy Policy, which is effective as of the revision date listed above. Your use of the Services or submission of any information, including Personal Information, to us constitutes acceptance and understanding of this Privacy Policy.
Personal Information We Collect
We collect Personal Information when you use our Services. This includes: (i) personal information you provide to us, (ii) personal information we collect automatically through your use of the Services, and (iii) personal information we receive from other sources.
Personal Information You Provide
Depending on how you use our Services, we may collect, store, and process (on your and/or on behalf of your organization, if applicable) information (including Personal Information) that you provide that is transmitted to us directly from you or your organization including, e.g., through the Services, our third-party partners, or our service providers. Information that you provide and that we collect includes:
- Account Information: When you create an account with us, we will collect information associated with your account, including, e.g., your name, contact information, account credentials, and transaction history.
- User Content: When you use our Services, including, as applicable, our onboarding or support services, we collect Personal Information that is included in the input, file uploads, or feedback that you provide to our Services.
- Communication Information: If you communicate with us, we collect your name, contact information, and the contents of any messages you send (“Communication Information”).
- Social Media Information: We have pages on social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn. When you interact with our social media pages, we will collect Personal Information that you elect to provide to us, such as your contact details. In addition, the companies that host our social media pages may provide us with aggregate information and analytics about our social media activity.
- Marketing data: We collect information you provide to us or to our marketing partners such as your preferences for receiving our marketing communications and details about your engagement with them.
- Other Information You Provide: We collect other information that you may provide to us, such as information you submit you register for or participate in our online or in-person opportunities or events, such as webinars, surveys, conferences, etc., or information you otherwise provide us to establish your identity.
Personal Information We Collect Automatically From Your Use of the Services
When you visit, use, or interact with the Services, we may receive the following information about your visit, use, or interactions:
- Log Data: Information that your browser or device automatically sends when you use our Services. Log data includes, e.g., your Internet Protocol address, browser type and settings, the date and time of your request, and how you interact with our Services.
- Usage Data: We may automatically collect information pertaining to your interaction with the Services, including, but not limited to, performance of the Services, metrics and other measures of your use of the Services and its operation, the types of content that you view or engage with, the features you use and the actions you take, as well as your time zone, country, the dates and times of access, user agent and version, type of computer or mobile device, and your computer connection.
- Device Information: Includes name of the device, operating system, device identifiers, and browser you are using. Information collected may depend on the type of device you use and its settings.
- Cookies: We use cookies to operate and administer our Services and improve your experience. A “cookie” is a small text file sent to your browser by a website you visit and placed on your computer or device) and similar technologies.
- Analytics: We may use a variety of online analytics products that use cookies to help us analyze how users use our Services and enhance your experience when you use the Services.
Personal Information We Receive from Other Sources
- We may receive information about you from other sources, including from other users and third parties, and combine that information with the other information we have about you. For example, if you connect a third party platform or service to our Services, we may access certain information from such third party platform or service to allow you to access and manage features more seamlessly. The information we receive depends on which services you use or authorize and what options are available.
- Third-party services may also give us information, like mailing addresses for individuals who are not yet our users. We use this information for marketing purposes like communications advertising our Services.
How We Use Personal Information
We collect, store, and use Personal Information for the following purposes:
- To operate, provide, administer, and maintain the Services;
- To create user profiles, authenticate visitors and users to the Services, and administer accounts;
- To provide customer support and technical assistance for our Services;
- To improve and analyze the Services and conduct research;
- To process and fulfill orders received through the Services or other ways you communicate them to us (e.g., email, phone) for functionality, features, and other products and services;
- To communicate with you, including to provide you with information about our products, services, and events, including to send you marketing and promotional e-mails and to personalize content and advertisements we may provide to you;
- To develop new products and services;
- To generate de-identified and aggregated Usage Data so that it no longer identifies you in order to analyze the effectiveness of our Services, to improve and add features to our Services, to conduct research and for other similar purposes, and for any other lawful purpose.
- To carry out business transfers and enforce legal agreements;
- To prevent fraud, criminal activity, or misuses of our Services, and to protect the security of our IT systems, architecture, and networks;
- To comply with legal obligations and legal process and to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you, or other third parties; and
- To respond to job applications. If you decide to apply for a job with us, you may submit your Personal Information and resume online. If you apply for a job with us through a third-party platform, we will collect certain Personal Information you make available to us through such third-party platform.
How We Share Your Personal Information
In certain circumstances we share your Personal Information with third parties including as follows:
- Vendors and Service Providers: To assist us in operating the Services and/or meeting business operations needs and to perform certain services and functions, we may provide Personal Information to vendors and service providers, including providers of hosting services, customer service vendors, cloud services, email communication software, web analytics services, and other information technology providers, among others. Pursuant to our instructions, these parties will access, process, or store Personal Information only in the course of performing their duties to us.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in strategic transactions, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, or transition of service to another provider (collectively, a “Transaction”), your Personal Information and other information may be disclosed in the diligence process with counterparties and others assisting with the Transaction and transferred to a successor or affiliate as part of that Transaction along with other assets.
- Legal Requirements: We may share your Personal Information, including information about your interaction with our Services, with government authorities, industry peers, or other third parties (i) if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, (ii) to protect and defend our rights or property, (iii) if we determine, in our sole discretion, that there is a violation of our terms, policies, or the law; (iv) to detect or prevent fraud or other illegal activity; (v) to protect the safety, security, and integrity of our products, employees, or users, or the public, or (vi) to protect against legal liability.
- Affiliates: We may disclose Personal Information to our affiliates, meaning an entity that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with Molecule. Our affiliates may use the Personal Information we share in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.
- Business Account Administrators: When you use the Services under a business account, the administrators of that account may access and control your Molecule account. In addition, if you create an account using an email address belonging to your employer or another organization, we may share the fact that you have a Molecule account and certain account information, such as your email address, with your employer or organization to, for example, enable you to be added to their business account.
Your Choices Regarding Your Personal Information
You have several choices available when it comes to information about you:
Cookies. We may receive information from cookies (small text files placed on your computer or device) and similar technologies. First-party cookies are placed by us (and our third-party service providers) and allow you to use the services and help us analyze and improve your experience and the Services. The Services use the following types of cookies:
- Strictly Necessary Cookies: These are required for Services to function and to meet our legal obligations. If you try to use tools to disable these cookies, parts of the Services may not work properly.
- Functional Cookies: These help us provide enhanced functionality on the Services like remembering language preferences. Disabling these could affect some service functionality.
- Performance Cookies: These allow us or our third-party analytics providers to learn how you and others use and engage with the Services so we can understand and improve them.
To control how information is collected and used from cookies on the Services, you can take one or more of the following steps:

Note that if you disable or remove cookies, some parts of the Services may not function properly. Information may be collected to remember your opt-out preferences.
Online Tracking Opt-Out. There are a number of ways to limit online tracking, which we have summarized below:
- Blocking cookies in your browser. See Cookie Policy above.
- Blocking advertising ID use in your mobile settings. Your mobile device settings may provide functionality to limit use of the advertising ID associated with your mobile device for interest-based advertising purposes.
- Advertising industry opt out tools. You can also use these opt out options to limit use of your information for interest-based advertising by participating companies:

Do Not Track. Some Internet browsers may be configured to send “Do Not Track” signals to the online services that you visit. We currently do not respond to "Do Not Track" or similar signals. To find out more about "Do Not Track," please visit www.allaboutdnt.com.
Opt Out of Marketing Communications. You may opt out of marketing-related communications by following the instructions contained in the marketing communications we send you.
Additional Rights Depending on Location. If you are located in certain regions, including the European Union, you may have additional rights that you can exercise by contacting us, such as the right to:
- Access your Personal Information and information relating to how it is processed.
- Delete your Personal Information from our records.
- Rectify or update your Personal Information.
- Transfer your Personal Information to a third party (right to data portability).
- Restrict how we process your Personal Information.
- Withdraw your consent—where we rely on consent as the legal basis for processing at any time.
- Object to how we process your Personal Information.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of California and interact with us as a consumer, you have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act or “CCPA” (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.), including to request access to and deletion of your Personal Information (as defined in the CCPA). You may exercise these rights by contacting us at legal@molecule.io. We do not sell your Personal Information, but we may allow our advertising partners to collect certain device identifiers and electronic network activity that allows them to show ads within their systems that are targeted to your interests. To opt out of having your Personal Information used for targeted advertising purposes, please visit www.aboutads.info/choices.

Exercising Your Rights. To the extent applicable under local law, you can exercise privacy rights described in this section by submitting a request to legal@molecule.io.
International Users
Molecule is based in the United States and processes and stores information on servers located in the United States. We may also process and store information on servers and equipment in other countries depending on a variety of factors, including the locations of our users and service providers. Accordingly, your Personal Information may transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) when you use the Services. These data transfers allow us to provide our Services to you and for the other purposes listed above. By accessing or using our Services or otherwise providing information to us, you understand that your information will be processed, transferred, and stored in the U.S. and other countries, where different data protection standards may apply and/or where you may not have the same rights as you do under local law.
When transferring data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we will take appropriate measures to ensure that the recipient offers an adequate level of protection of your Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and as required by applicable law. These measures include entering into contracts using the European Commission approved standard contractual clauses with entities based outside the EEA, and/or other legally compliant mechanisms or conditions for such data transfer.
Legal Bases for Processing. Our legal bases for processing your Personal Information include:
- The use is necessary in order to fulfill our commitments to you under the applicable terms of service or other agreements with you, or is necessary to administer your account — for example, in order to enable access to our Services on your device; or
- The use is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation; or
- The use is necessary in order to protect your vital interests or those of another person; or
- We have a legitimate interest in using your Personal Information — for example, to provide and update our Services; to improve our Services so that we can offer you an even better user experience; to safeguard our Services; to communicate with you; to measure, gauge, and improve the effectiveness of our advertising; and to understand our user retention and attrition; to monitor and prevent any problems with our Services; and to personalize your experience; or
- You have given us your consent – for example, when creating an account registering for an event.
Data Security And Retention
We take appropriate precautions including organizational, technical, and physical measures to help safeguard against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, and unauthorized disclosure of, or access to, the Personal Information we process or use.
While we follow generally accepted standards to protect Personal Information, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. You are solely responsible for protecting your password, limiting access to your devices and signing out of websites after your sessions. We retain personal information until we determine it is no longer needed for the processing purposes for which we collected it (referred to above) or retain it or for legal compliance.
Data You Share With Third Party Services
The Services may enable you to connect via APIs or other methods with other websites, products, or services not operated or controlled by Molecule (collectively, “Third Party Services”). The information that you share with Third Party Services will be governed by the specific privacy policies and terms of service of the Third Party Services and not by this Privacy Policy. By providing these links we do not imply that we endorse or have reviewed these sites. Please contact the Third Party Services directly for information on their privacy practices and policies.
Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use personal information from children under 13 years of age, and no parts of our Services are directed to children. If you learn that a child has provided us with personal information in violation of this Privacy Policy, please alert us at legal@molecule.io.
Changes To The Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post an updated version on this page, unless another type of notice is required by applicable law.
